Finally the new Walkman series shows up

Seems like Sony has finally graced us with their first Walkman phone that uses Android. Although design wise its not nothing new, infact its just a Xperia X8 with a different name.

It will be a low-end device with 3-inch 320x480 touchscreen, 600MHz CPU, 168Mb of RAM and 2.1 version of Android.

With still no information regarding its pricing, but we can bet it wont be that expensive considering the competition already out there.

Brand new alien lands!

Some days ago we posted about an upgrade the M14X was getting, all fine with that. Now it will get a new big brother: the M18X!

It will be the high end of high ends on the Alienware gaming laptops catalogue, this thing is a beast. Just take a look at it's specs:

Screen:                          18.4-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display
CPU:                               Intel Core i7 Extreme chip overclocked to 4GHz
GPU:                              AMD CrossFireX or NVIDIA SLI graphics
RAM:                              up to 32GB of DDR3
Input/Output:                  3D-capable HDMI 1.4 port, WirelessHD

The chassis is made of anodized aluminum.

With no price tag on this behemoth of the gaming laptop's world, one thing is certain, it will not be for everyone!

Capcom's gone medieval

Capcom released the first trailer for their upcoming big game, by the looks of it a mix between Demon's Souls, Elder Scrolls and Monster Hunter, we gotta say that's one hell of a mix they've got brewing!

Impressively it runs on the same engine as Street Fighter 4 and it looks amazing!

The plot is rather unusual, a dragon basically attacks a village and steals the main character's heart and we set off into the world to get it back!

It will be open-world and it promises a lot to do, from killing giant creatures to helping villagers. Its an action RPG and gladly 2 of the best people in the action genre are in it: DMC alumni Hideaki Itsuna and Resident Evil 4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi.

Set to release in early 2012 for the PS3 and X360. Here's the trailer:

Xperia X10 Mini Pro successor

Seems like the X10 mini pro successor has been spotted once again, codenamed "Mango" but it can possibly come out as Duo.

It looks like a very nice improvement over its predecessor, very good looking and it has impressive scores on benchmarks even beating a Nexus One with Froyo inside. So the known specs or this little gem will be:

CPU: Still not yet completely confirmed but a Qualcomm Snapdragon at possibly 800MHz/1GHz
Screen: 3.2 with HVGA resolution.
Camera: 5MP with HD video, besides that it comes with a video-call cam too.
Memory: Nothing certain but about 384MB.

Still to be announced officially, the X10 mini2 is already shapping up to be a very nice smartphone for a mid market. We'll just have to wait for any further info that might come up.

Another addition to the Alienware laptops

Alienware's M14x laptop got an upgrade, the M17x and the M11x had already received one themeselves so it was only fair for the M14x to get one too.

The known specs for this middle end laptop are:

- CPU: Intel Core i7-2820QM 2,3GHz
- HDD: 750GB 7200RPM , 256GB SATA2 or SATA3 SDD
- GPU: NVIDIA GT555M
- LTE or WiMAX connectivity,

And either a 1366 x 768 display or a Full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD

Besides all these it comes with Klipsch speakers for high definition sound. Still with no given release date it already seems quite the beast of a laptop.

New Spider-Man game

Activision has announced last week the release of another Spider-Man game, Edge of Time. It looks similar to the most recent one, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, it will possibly play similarly too.

The game's scheduled to come out this Fall, meanwhile watch the trailer for it.

Battlefield 3 action packed video

By now many of you might have heard of EA's next big title, Battlefield 3. Their IP is the most direct rival to the Call of Duty franchise and by the look of it, it's going to step up the rivalry up a notch.

The video released recently shows street gunfire and defusing bombs. Besides this it also shows how the melee combat will work out.

If you stay on it until the end, the video shows a tease of the next video to be released on April 17. Battlefield 3 is scheduled to launch this fall.

Kratos in the upcoming MK game

It has been known for a while that Kratos, the main protagonist of the hit series God of War, would be in the PS3 version of the next Mortal Kombat. Many thought it would fit very well into the MK universe, violent by nature and brutal, Kratos has what it's needed to make a good MK addition.

And so to show the public how great he is, NetherRealm Studios has released a little trailer of what can we expect from Kratos and his god-like abilities.

Sony Ericsson Spain talks about the Xperia Play pricing

After many speculation and rumors, seems like Sony Ericsson Spain has come forward and clarify the whole situation around the pricing of the Xperia Play. The phone will be €649 off contract and unlocked(which would be something like $907) and it will be avaliable starting April 1st. It matches pretty well with what other European locales have been saying. In Spain Vodafone will have a 15-day exclusive on the white model, other carriers getting the regular black version.

Its obivious that $900 is quite a bit too much for a phone, but nothing on the US retail picture has indicated an actual price yet, so we'll just have to wait for further news.

Hilarious Prototype 2 video

In a different yet original way to show the visual of Prototype 2, lightning and the city's detail, Radical(the developers of the game) released a video where James Heller throws a poor guy from a rooftop and making him fly across what seems to be a block, all this in slow motion and with a very fitting music. Watch it bellow.

Prototype 2 is set to release next year.

Android market is surprisingly more profitable

The Android platform has become the most prolific smartphone platform in the US, overtaking the Blackberry's place. But its not only Blackberry that has been affected by the rapid ascension of the Android platform, seems like Apple is somewhat affected too. Spacetime Studios, the creators of the mobile MMO Pocket Legends

, which brings revenue from in-game items, found out that they are making roughly 40 percent more from the Android users than the iOS ones. Not only that but they play more and download the app with greater frequency.

In any case this shows that the mobile app markets are still growing, maturing and needing stabilization.

Xbox successor?

Microsoft has posted a job notice on their website seeking a hardware engineer for its Interactive Entertainment Business division. The post indicates that Microsoft is looking for a "a graphics hardware architect" for the Xbox Console Architecture group, its claiming is "responsible for defining and delivering next-gen console architectures from conception through implementation."

Microsoft states in the job posting that it's looking for someone who has a "solid understand of graphics hardware implementation, including design methodologies and production yield and cost analysis." It also wants someone who has experience taking "designs from investigation to end-customer shipment during their career."

So it seems MS is working on a Next-Gen hardware platform, probably their next console. With no information on their behalf we just have to wait for any developments they eventually make.

Samsung reveils Galaxy Tab 2

Samsung has shown recently their response to Apple's next incursion in the tablet's market, the iPad 2.

Named Galaxy Tab 2, only a few details are known about it, so far it's known to have a 10,1 inches screen, with 1280x800, a 8MP camera with HD recording, surround sound and comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

Sadly no price has been reveiled yet.

Darkspore Beta testing

Seems like Maxis' new title, Darkspore, has started it's beta testing phase. For the moment the participants are selected from the registered users of the game's website.

It's still possible to try and enter the Beta testing with a simple registry over at the site. This phase is scheduled to run for five weeks. A reminder that Darkspore is a RTS with a feel of Spore, where you can costumize your creatures and engage in ferocious combat with other races.

Nokia and Microsoft collaboration

this came as a huge surprise on the Smartphones market, Nokia and Microsft have agreed on a extensive collaboration making the WP7(Windows Phone 7) the main OS for Nokia's smartphones. However, this doesn't mean MeeGo and Symbian will be dropped, only that they will be less relevant.

This collaboration will be at different levels, Microsoft and Nokia will work to bring WP7 to a broader range of consumers since as of now WP7 is only avaliable at a high-end price. Nokia will also help in the development of Microsoft's OS since they have expertise in the hardware and software optmimization. There will also be a deep connection between both companies services, Microsoft's Bing and AdCenter will be present in Nokia Devices as well.

As for the Symbian and the MeeGo, the first will continue to be put into some of their phones and the later will be a open-source mobile OS.

This transition, according to Nokia, is planned to take place in 2011 and 2012.

Although a little late for the show we couldn't start a games and technology blog without mentioning the recent announcement from Sony of their next handheld. Sony unveiled the NGP, Next Generation Portable(working title), in an event held on January 27th in Tokyo, Japan. Still on a prototype phase Sony's new handheld is quite impressive already with a similar look to the PSP only slightly bigger. It seems Sony listened to their consumer base, who had been asking for another analog stick on their consoles since the first PSP model, the PSP-1000.
For what we can see from the videos of the demos shown, it's a pretty powerful machine boasting PS3-like graphics in an impressively big screen. The specs are as follow:

The release date for Sony's handheld is still unclear but Sony has already shown intent in releasing the console in at least a region before the holidays' end of 2011 and as Sony already stated it will be affordable for an handheld.
