Nokia and Microsoft collaboration

this came as a huge surprise on the Smartphones market, Nokia and Microsft have agreed on a extensive collaboration making the WP7(Windows Phone 7) the main OS for Nokia's smartphones. However, this doesn't mean MeeGo and Symbian will be dropped, only that they will be less relevant.

This collaboration will be at different levels, Microsoft and Nokia will work to bring WP7 to a broader range of consumers since as of now WP7 is only avaliable at a high-end price. Nokia will also help in the development of Microsoft's OS since they have expertise in the hardware and software optmimization. There will also be a deep connection between both companies services, Microsoft's Bing and AdCenter will be present in Nokia Devices as well.

As for the Symbian and the MeeGo, the first will continue to be put into some of their phones and the later will be a open-source mobile OS.

This transition, according to Nokia, is planned to take place in 2011 and 2012.
